Our community organizations started simply circa 1999 as meetings in a neighbors house. The meetings purpose was formulating Neighborhood Watch Teams to patrol the neighborhood at night. We were lent one of the Melbourne Police small electric carts. Forty houses were in the process of being constructed. There were about 10 to 12 homes already built in Phase 1 which reflected the maximum amount of residents in attendance at any one time at these meetings. During this time the Melbourne Police had funded a community outreach officer who on several occasions came to give presentations at these meetings. The late Earl Humphrey presided over these meetings at his home. As more houses were completed, attendance at these metings increased and a new venue had to be found. Two residents arranged for future meetings to be held at the First Baptist Church on Dairy Rd. These Neighborhood Watch Meetings morphed into the Advisory Committee. The minutes in these 3 groups reflect business objectives to be considered with the assistance of Property Management.
